  • Welcome!

The Eleanor Van Gelder School serves the students of Edgewater in grades 3-6.  Students in preschool through grade 2 attend George Washington School, and students in grades 7-12 attend Leonia Public Schools.  To view each of our school's websites, select a school at the top of this page.  To view the website for Leonia Public Schools, click here
Here at the Eleanor Van Gelder School, we are two schools in one:

Grades 3 and 4 follow the “traditional” elementary model where students have a primary teacher that teaches all core subjects - Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.  The remaining subjects are taught by subject area specialists

Grades 5 and 6 students have a different teacher for all subjects.  Your child will have a schedule that resembles that of an individualized middle or high school schedule.  However, your child will generally stay with his or her peers from class to class.

For specific information on your child’s teacher(s) and program of study, please visit teacher websites by clicking here.  If you have questions or concerns please email the teacher(s) directly.  Email addresses can be found here.
