Welcome to ART!
My name is Mrs. Rattner-Raisch and I am very much looking forward to teaching art this upcoming school year!
I have taught art for over 17 years, from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in charter schools in Jersey City and Brooklyn and, Franklin Elementary School in Newark. Early in my career, I taught ceramics and “Art in Nature” at Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack, New York.
I received my Bachelors Degree of Science in Art Education at State University at New Paltz in upstate New York. Later, I received my Masters Degree with a major in Museum Education at Bank Street College of Education in New York City.
My teaching methodology is centered on developing a knowledge base of art appreciation and plenty of time dedicated to creating art. Students will be encouraged to respond to art through writing and meaningful discussion. The art content will be based on aesthetics, art criticism, art history and art production.
My educational goals are to present engaging and creatively challenging projects utilizing various media: drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and digital media. Most importantly, I want to guide students to discover and become aware of their own unique journey through the process of creating an artwork.
