• Welcome to EVG's Counseling Program Website. I'm Miss Stein, the EVG School Counselor. We work together at EVG to problem solve to learn to make responsible choices.

     

    As a School Counselor, I preform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, personal/social domains:

    • Classroom guidance lessons
    • I&RS
    • Organize building testing
    • Mindfulness activities 
    • Peer Tutoring
    • Lunch Bunch
    • Cyber Safety
    • Peer to Peer program
    • D.U.D.E. Group
    • U.N.I.C.O.R.N. Group 
    • Provide information and outside resources to parents on a variety of issues
    • Short-term, solution-focused counseling is offered to individual students

     

    What is I&RS?

    Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) is where teachers and specialists can assist a student who is struggling academically or behaviorally.  The purpose of the I&RS is to identify the need and then provide appropriate interventions within the general education setting. The I&RS team is one of many resources used by schools to intervene with student concerns.

     

    What is Peer Tutoring?

    Peer Tutoring is from 7:45am-8:15am on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the EVG Library where 6th grade students help other students with homework.

     

    What are Classroom Guidance Lessons?

    These lessons are taught by the school counselor and focus on the following topics:

    • peer relationships and healthy communication 
    • kindness 
    • multicultural awareness
    • conflict resolution
    • when you feel left out 
    • coping strategies, relaxation, and stress management
