October is recognized as National Principals Month, a time to honor and celebrate the dedicated leaders who guide our schools each day. We are proud to recognize Mr. McCormick, Principal of George Washington School, and Mr. Frega, Principal of Eleanor Van Gelder School, for their outstanding leadership, commitment, and care for our students, staff, and families.
Our principals play a vital role in fostering a positive school culture, supporting academic excellence, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. Next week, beginning on Monday, October 6, our schools will join districts across New Jersey in observing the Week of Respect. This important initiative provides us with an opportunity to highlight the values of kindness, empathy, and respect that form the foundation of our school community.
Throughout the week, students and staff will participate in a variety of activities, lessons, and discussions focused on building positive relationships, embracing diversity, and creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels valued, included, and respected each day they come to school.
We encourage families to extend these conversations at home by talking with your children about the meaning of respect, how we can show it in our daily actions, and why it is essential for a healthy community.
Thank you for your partnership in reinforcing these important values both at school and at home. Together, we can continue to nurture a culture of respect in Edgewater.

Each year from September 15 to October 15, we join schools and communities across the country in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. This month provides us with a meaningful opportunity to honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans who have enriched our nation and our community in countless ways.
In our schools, we are committed to creating learning experiences that highlight the voices, traditions, and achievements of Hispanic and Latino leaders past and present. Our classrooms will engage in activities and discussions that celebrate diversity and deepen understanding, while also encouraging students to appreciate the strength that comes from our differences.
We invite families to join us in this celebration by talking with your children about the importance of heritage and culture. Together, we can foster a school community where every student feels seen, valued, and inspired.

Dear Edgewater School Community,
Today, we pause to remember the events of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation. While many of our students were not yet born, the impact of that day continues to shape the world we live in and reminds us of the importance of unity, resilience, and compassion.
For our youngest learners, the focus remains on the values of kindness, caring for one another, and being a good friend and citizen. For our older students, it is also an opportunity to learn about the bravery of first responders and the strength of communities coming together.
As a school district, we honor this day with age-appropriate learning experiences, moments of reflection, and opportunities to express gratitude for those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.
I encourage families to take a few moments this evening to talk with your children about what this day means. These conversations, centered around hope, strength, and community, help ensure that future generations carry forward the lessons of September 11.
