Thank you to all of our families who joined us this week for Back to School Night at EVG and GW. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many of you and to begin the 2026–2027 school year together. Your presence, partnership, and continued support of our schools are truly appreciated.
As I mentioned during my opening remarks, we will be hosting our first Caregiver Connection Series presentation on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at George Washington School.
Our first session will center around Jon Gordon’s The Energy Bus, a book that provides an important framework for thinking about the power of positive energy, shared vision, teamwork, and personal responsibility. These ideas connect directly to our district’s theme for this school year: One Team. One Vision. One Edgewater.
As a school community, we are all passengers on the same bus. We each have an important role to play in creating a positive culture, supporting one another, and ensuring that our collective energy is focused on what matters most, every child, every day, every opportunity.
The Caregiver Connection Series is designed to create opportunities for meaningful collaboration and conversation between our schools and families. We want to continue building a strong partnership with you as we work together to support the academic, social, and personal growth of every Edgewater student.

Today, the Edgewater School District pauses to remember September 11, 2001, a day when our country experienced a great tragedy and many lives were lost.
We remember the people who lost their lives and the families, friends, and communities whose lives were changed forever. We also remember the firefighters, police officers, teachers, medical professionals, and other helpers who showed tremendous courage and cared for others during a very difficult time.
For our students, remembering September 11 is an opportunity to think about the values that bring us together: kindness, courage, compassion, service, and caring for one another.
One of the most important lessons we can carry forward is that even during difficult times, people can come together to help, support, and care for one another. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others.
Today, we remember those who were lost, honor those who helped, and remind ourselves of the importance of being a caring and compassionate community.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, New Jersey schools are required to implement “bell-to-bell” policies limiting students’ non-academic use of cell phones and other personal internet-enabled devices during the school day.
📱🚫 The goal is simple: fewer distractions and more opportunities for students to learn, connect, and be present.
